In 1747 James, name spelled "Frese", owned Land at South Meadow, Mass. The property consisted of a house, barn and fifty-six acres of land on Long Hill, but he did not live there. He sold the Property to Henry Bowen Esq. In 1730, who in turn sold to his oldest son Salas Bowen in 1747, James then removed to Brimfield, Mass.In 1765. James was a cooper (barrel and cask maker ), army officer, Connecticut State Militia. On June 5, 1764 He was one of the inhabitants of Brimfield, Mass. who Petition to be Incorporated a District to His Excellency Frances Bernard Esq., Capt. General and Commander-in-Chief of His Majesty's province of Massachusetts Bay.
