From the "Warren Centennial"- In 1800 James and Jeremiah Morrison settled in Warren. John Gilson and others followed in 1803 from New York state and floated down the river on a raft. John Gilson built the first house made of square timber and stood near the corner of Water and Hazel streets. Stephen Gilson was the first male child born here.
