Death: 26 JAN 1675/76
Details:  The death of John1 is alluded to in a letter from Captain James Oliver, (written at the house of Richard Smith in Narragansett). He first mentions that Joshua Tefft son of John1 had married a Wampanoag. That he shot twenty times at the English in the Narragansett fight; was captured and executed at Providence, and then declared that he was a "sad wretch, who had never heard a sermon but once these fourteen years," and that "his father going to recall him, lost his head and lies unburied.
