Captain Peter Salmon came from Long Island, NY, married a Miss Stark and settled up on a hill above Flanders. He was an extensive land owner, having in his possession the tract of land now covered by several farms. Captain Salmon was the father of three sons and four daughters, William, Aaron, Peter Jr, Elizabeth, Sarah Ann and Margaret. Nothing could be more natural, in so sparsely a settled community, than for Captain Salmon's sons and daughters to become acquainted with the young family of Richard Stephens living only about one mile west of them. William Salmon, the oldest son, married Dolly, the oldest daughter of Richard Stephens. His farm was later known as the Rush Creamery. - From the Early Germans of New Jersey; Their History, Churches and Genealogies: Mount Olive Presbyterian Church
