Having a family
history website is a very rewarding hobby. It allows you to share
the information that you've gathered with everyone in your family who has
internet access. No more high costs for postage and photocopying
every time you want to update your book. You simply point people to
your website and you can update it periodically as you find additional
information.

Also, once your site is
registered with the major search engines, you will find yourself meeting
distant relatives you may not have otherwise come across. You may
then share pictures, information and clues with each other to get deeper
into your ancestry than you ever dreamed possible. Our genealogy

Web
Hosting: If you don't already have a website and/or a domain
name (i.e., www.caskey-family.com), we can accommodate your needs.
For a small yearly fee, we can provide space on a server on which to put
your family information.
- Step One:
Every website needs to have a domain name. If you have already
registered a name, then you're all set (go to step two). If not,
we can do this for you. Let us know what name you'd like to
register and we will see if it is still available. The costs for
registering a domain name are below:

- Step Two:
Every website also need to be hosted on an Internet server. Again,
if you already have a website set up, then go to step three. If
not, we can do this for you as well. The cost for this service is
$99/year. For this fee, you receive up to 500MB of space on a
Windows 2000 server. This should be more than enough space for
even the largest of family history sites. Our own site currently
takes up just over 100MB of space.
Note: We do not receive any money from
either of these services. These are fees which go directly to the
registering service and the web hosting service.
Web Site
Creating: We can create a family history website that will
meet your needs - anything from a couple of pages to a much larger site
with pictures, links to documentation, etc.
- Step Three:
Now comes the fun part. You give us the family history data that
you have and we will create a website for you. If you have the
information in GEDCOM format, that will save us time and save you money.
You can send it to us via e-mail or on diskette or CD through the US
Mail. We charge $20.00/hour. Below are some examples of
pages that we created in about an hour:
- Step Four:
(Web Site Maintenance) When someone takes on the hobby of
documenting their family history, they soon discover that there are
frequent updates that need to be made. We can make these updates
for you to ensure that your site stays up-to-date. We charge
$20.00/hour for this task as well. Note: We charge in
15 minute blocks of time.
