Note:  One of three Schneider brothers to arrive from Pennsylvania.  He, with his wife and family, his brother Christian and family, and others, moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County. Old Yoch, as he was generally called, settled on the east bank of the Grand River, near Bloomingdale, on the farms now possessed by Benjamin S. Snyder, Josiah S. Snyder, and Rev. Menno B. Bowman where he was engaged in farming and acquiring real estate so as to be able to give a large farm to each one of his children.  (pic on right is of a cradle belonging to this family)

Note:  A deed (Memorial No. 393) dated June 17, 1819 between Jacob Snyder Sr., Waterloo Township, Yeoman; his wife, Mary; and his son, Jacob Snyder, farmer. It refers to the sale of Lot 6 Waterloo Township, originally owned and sold by Richard Beasley to Israel Reid, and Lot 7 Waterloo Township, originally owned and sold by Richard Beasley to George Clemens who sold it to John Bricker. The Lots, consisting of over 217 acres, were sold for $1600. The document was witnessed by Jonathan B. Baumann and John Snider.

Deed:  04 OCT 1833
Note:  Deed No. 574 dated October 4, 1833 between Jacob Erb Sr., Waterloo Township, yeoman, and Jacob J. Snyder, Waterloo Township, yeoman. Lot 79 consisting of 448 acres on the east side of the Grand River in Waterloo was sold for £250. The document was witnessed by Samuel Eby Sr. and Philipp Rickert.

Deed:  01 AUG 1836
Note:  Deed 206 dated August 1, 1836 between Jacob Schnider Sr., Waterloo Township, yeoman, and Jacob J. Schnider, Waterloo Township, yeoman. The east end of Lot 71 of Waterloo Township on the east side of the Grand River, 120 acres, was sold. The document was signed Jacob Schneider and Jacob J. Snider. It was witnessed by John Snyder and Levi Bechtel.

Deed:  18 JUN 1839
Note:  Deed 9 dated June 18, 1839 between Jacob Shantz Jr., Waterloo Township, yeoman, and Jacob Snider Sr., Waterloo Township, yeoman. Sixteen acres, Lot 69 Waterloo Township was sold. The document was witnessed by Jacob J. Snider and Abraham Snider. The Deed was registered March 7, 1853.

Note:  Jacob donated the land for this cemetery and meeting house.

Will:  Have copy of the will of Jacob Schneider dated June 24, 1841 and presented for probate in Waterloo County March 14, 1853. It includes an Inventory of Goods and Effects dated March 5, 1853. The Will transfers Lot 69, Waterloo Township to Levi Bechtel and his wife, Magdalena (Schneider) Bechtel. The Will also makes provision for Jacob’s daughter, Elisabeth Snider (Elizabeth Schneider). Sons Christian J. Snider and Jacob J. Snider were the Executors. The Will was witnessed by Jacob S. Shoemaker and Henry Snider. The attached Inventory of Goods was witnessed by J.B. Bauman and Henry Snider.
